Brief description:
International students are encouraged to apply to the York World Scholars (YWS) program at York University, which is renowned for promoting innovative thinking. The program is designed for high-achieving students who desire to pursue a double major (a combination of two programs that results in a unique degree) in the humanities, social sciences, languages, or professional subjects and who have excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Scholarship value/duration:
A tuition remission of up to $20,000 will be given to the top three World Scholars. Students who have a GPA of 80% or higher are eligible for awards worth up to $2500. The grants are valid for a maximum of three years, pending good development.
You will also be automatically eligible for the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies International Student Entrance Scholarship if you apply as a York World Scholar. Candidates who are qualified and have a Grade Point Average (GPA) between 90% and 94.9% will get $2,000; those who have a GPA of 95% or higher will get $3,000.

Application instructions for York World Scholars Scholarships:
If they want to apply to other Ontario Universities, international applicants can do so through the Ontario Universities Application Center (OUAC) OR they can utilize the York online application (if they are interested in applying to York only). Two declarations of interest must be sent once the OUAC application has been submitted:
a. A 400-word statement outlining the double major combination you’ve selected and why.
b. A 200-word statement outlining your career goals over the following five years.
The deadline for the OUAC application and both statements is April 20, 2024.
