The Donald A. Wehrung Foreign Student Award honors excellent undergraduate international students from underdeveloped or conflict-torn regions who have excelled academically despite adversity and who would not be able to attend college without financial aid.

The scholarship’s value is determined by your documented financial need and is enough to pay for your degree-related tuition as well as living expenses.
If you maintain an acceptable academic standing in your faculty, continue to demonstrate financial need, and maintain your Canadian study permit, the Award may be extended for up to three more years of undergraduate study or until you complete your degree, whichever comes first (student visa).
Eligibility:
For the International Leader of Tomorrow Award to be given:
- You must be an international student who has been granted a study permit to study in Canada.
- You must be transferring from your first year of a post-secondary college or another university, or you must be attending UBC from a recognized secondary school.
- You must have completed high school no sooner than June of the two academic years before the one for which you are applying. For instance, candidates for the class of 2022 must have completed high school no sooner than June 2022.
- Your application for your first undergraduate degree must be submitted.
- You must show that you have achieved academically (achieve all As or equivalent standards).
- You must show that your financial situation is such that it would otherwise preclude you from obtaining a degree at UBC.
- The English Language Admission Standard as well as general and degree-specific criteria are among the UBC’s admission requirements.
Application instructions:
You must be nominated by your school or nonprofit organization and submit a reference from an academic referee to apply for the International Scholars program. Verify that your institution or nonprofit organization has the authority to nominate you, and let your academic referee and nominator know that you want to apply to the International Scholars Program.
By November 15th, submit your grant application as well as the online UBC admissions form. By January 31st, you must fulfill the UBC English Language Admission Requirement.
